THE MIRROR BOY PREMIERE AND AFTER-PARTY FEEDBACK

Photo: 2011 by Nnorom Azuonye

In the past two months, London was held captive with the impending world premiere of The Mirror Boy - an Obi Emelonye film produced by The Nollywood Factory and OH Films.

Finally on the 24th of February the premiere was held at the Empire Leicester Square in what has been described as a historical first for Nollywood; the first time a Nollywood film has received its premiere in the world famous cinema. It was an amazing show with over 1300 people in attendance. A sell-out show by any standards.

The questions now are:

(1) Were you there?

(2) Did you see the film, if so let's have a short review from you. Tell us exactly what you thought of the movie. Feedback is the only catalyst to growth and improvement.

(3) What was your overall view of the organisation of the premiere and after-party? We want to serve you better, so please tell us what we could have done better, and by all means praise what we did good.

Thank you all for supporting The Mirror Boy.

  2. Mr Anonymous, we were hoping for a review of what went on. But to reassure you we are not taking anyone's credit, Nollywood Focus was The Mirror Boy premiere partners. (See all the premiere literature.) Our role was in marketing the premiere - audience engineering, online ticket sales. We performed that role very well.

  3. Yes I was there as Miss Nigeria UK 2010-2011, I thought the movie was great, I love the way you mixed the different lifestyles. The UK lifestyle and African lifestyle, I also loved the way the boy who wasn't so keen about his culture and country ended up loving it and making something out of it as he became wiser. The effects were amazing, I liked Osita Iheme's bit Great Actor not forgetting Genevieve and the main character, all did a good job, great images and beautiful environment.

As for the premire I think it was well organised though a bit crowded but what do you expect when over a thousand people attended. I loved it, very spacious, comfortable seating, the only thing I and a few other people didnt quite understand was Genevive and Osita and the main characters sat with a bit too far away from VIP which i thought buying a VIP ticket ensured us sitting a bit closer to them. I wanted to see Genevive and Osita, didnt really get a chance to,maybe next time...but overall 9/10.

Everyone worked hard, Obi and his team did a fantastic job, its not easy but it was very successful.

    Thank you

  4. The premiere at such a prestigious venue was a missed opportunity. The film quality and sound were poor and the organisation of the event seemed chaotic - trying to get into the cinema was a nightmare - this cannot be about the size of the crowd as, the Empire are well used to volume. The audience support in spite of the lack of professionalism was phenomenal. Onwards and upwards.
